Open Gæðingakeppni in our club Sleipnir yesterday with four horses from our breed participating in B - flokk ( Icelandic 4 gate), three of them qualified for the finals. Glampi frá Ketilsstöðum ended in second place, Álfgrímur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum in third place and Goði frá Ketilsstöðum in sixth place.
The weather is so beautiful this days that it's perfect for photographing. This is Tíbrá playing with her four days old son sired by Álfaklettur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum. Looks like the small one knows how to move.
This beautiful colt was born on 3rd of June, dam is Tíbrá frá Ketilsstöðum and sire is Álfaklettur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum. Tíbrá, which is 4 gated, was breeding evaluated with 8,25 five years old including 9,0 for tölt, slow tölt, galop, spirit and expression.
Beautiful days in Iceland, a bit cold though.
The weather is rally beautiful these days and these mares are not making it worse for sure.
This colt was born May 30th, dam is Ör frá Ketilsstöðum and sire is Sveinn-Hervar frá Þúfu wich makes him a full brother of Gígur frá Ketilsstöðum who we think is a very promising 4 gater. Gígur was presented in the group of 4 year old stallions at the breeding show at Landsmót last year, with a total score of 8,18.
As I write this I realize it's been 20 years since I first bread a mare to Sveinn-Hervar, I first saw Sveinn-Hervar in a breeding show and called his rider Vignir Siggeirsson and asked him if I could come and see him live, then I had the pleasure if ride him. The foal was born before a realized that Svenn-Hervar hadn't reached 1st price yet. Many great offsprings and descendants from him have been born here since then.
It looks like a beautiful day, nice to watch the four year old mares having breakfast
A visit in the herd, obviously she had lots of fun.
These pictures are of Alda Ólafsdóttir and her yearling, a filly named Gullborg, sired by Álfgrímur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum and Mynd frá Haukatungu 1 Syðri. There already exists a full sister to Gullborg named Eldborg, who is already doing well in competitions. Last spring Eldborg won the T2 tölt with loose rains in the Masters League in the West. Alda has grown a lot since she came to me to ask to breed with her favorite horse Álfgrímur. It looks like her choice was a good one.
This filly was born 24th of May, dam is Védís frá Hellubæ and sire is Sveinn-Hervar frá Þúfu. Védís who is 4 gaited (CA). Védís received 8,06 as a total score when she was five years old. 9.0 for tölt, slow tölt, galop, spirit, expression and 9,5 for canter. Sveinn-Hervar is an excellent 4 gated competition horse father, so it will be exiting to see what the future brings for her.
Here are some good pictures of Sara Lundberg and Bylgja frá Ketilsstöðum, they competed in Tölt T3 and ended in 3rd place with 6,33. Good job.
This beautiful colt was born today, mother is Álfadís frá Selfossi and father is Arður frá Brautarholti
Some pictures of Elin and Frami from the open WR competition arranged by Sleipnir. They always deliver great and this time, two A finales is 4 gate V1 7,70/7,83 and Tölt T1 7,87/7,96.
First competition for Álfgrímur, ans the scores was Tölt T1 7,30 and 4 gate V1 6,87.
On my way home after a week in Sweden competing Álffinur, the luck was not with me this time, everytime I competed him is was raining and sometimes more than that. The track could not handle the water, so very deep and muddy on the worst. A pitty on a great place with all the facilities and well arranged tournament with a good atmosphere as well.
Today the weather was much better though, and Álffinnur was starting to show what he can. Thank you all, it was very nice to spend time with you all.
This foal was born on the 20th of May, Dam is Silfurtá frá Syðri-Gegnishólum and sire is Frami frá Ketilsstöðum.
Sædísi is being trained for pace competitions
Eyvör frá Lönguhlíð 4 years old, dam is Sædís frá Stóra-Sandfelli and sire Álfarinn frá Syðri-Gegnishólum.
Finally publishing some pictures of Álfaklettur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum 6 years old, dam is Álfadís frá Selfossi and sire is Stáli frá Kjarri. This year we have not presented him anywhere, but that might change.
He shows good improvements and we think he is a beauty, with five even and great gates. We have big expectations for him in the future.
Two young mares in the herd at Ketilsstaðir.
