The weather was great yesterday bringing a great opportunity to ride the 4 years old stallions outside for the first time. Here are some pictures of Svartálfur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, dam is Áfadís frá Selfossi and sire is Arion frá Eystra-Fróðholti. He thought it was very exiting and used every opportunity to look around.

We used the good weather to take care of the breeding mares. This mare needed a little help with the teeth, since she was starting to eat slow. Her name is Vænting frá Ketilsstöðum, 26 years old, she is pregnant with her 19th off spring. For fun, Vænting has 113 in Blup and 7 breeding evaluated off springs, 6 of those with 1.price. Almost all of the unpresended offsprings are good riding horses.

This picture was taken last summer with Bergur holding Ör frá Ketilsstöðum who was never tamed due to injuries she got as a filly. Ör is bread from two honorary priced horses, Framkvæmd frá Ketilsstöðum and Kjarval frá Sauðárkróki. Ör is making a strong income as a breeding mare at our farm with all offsprings being good riding horses and some of them doing good in competitions. The stallion foal with her in the picture is sired by Álfgrímur frá Syðri- Gegnishólum and owned by Esther Kapinga. Last summer a very noticeable son of Ör and Sveinn-Hervar frá Þúfu í Landeyjum came through, Gígur frá Ketilsstöðum. He was breeding evaluated with a total score of 8,18, a 4 year old four gaiter who has now been sold to Ásta and Will Covert í USA.

When we sold Álfasteinn frá Selfossi we invested in two breeds with Orri frá Þúfu because that was what you had to do if you wanted to breed with him. I guess he is the most expensive stallion ever in Iceland and the best.
The result was Strokkur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, dam Grýla frá Stangarholti and Álffinnur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, dam Álfadís frá Selfossi.
Here are some pictures of Strokkur.

These pictures were taken last summer when we had an open house after the Landsmót, inviting everybody to visit us. We brought some mares home for our guests to see. From the left is Katla frá Ketilsstöðum, Álfhildur frá Syðri-Gegnishólum, Framkvæmd frá Ketilsstöðum and Álfadís frá Selfossi with her new born daughter sired by Stáli frá Kjarri. Scratching is Katla and Álfhildur the best friends , Katla got upset when ÁLfhildur was not by her side in the stable.
